The plot of the book is engaging, the pace good, with a well-rounded mixture of action, setting and development. One of the few areas which is lacking, in my opinion, is with the villains, who unfortunately come across a little 2 dimensional.

The characters have already had opportunity to become fleshed out and distinctive, but this doesn’t stop McNiven from adding both to them as individuals, and extra characters who appear for this adventure. Many of the characters from the previous books return, and if you’ve been following their adventures, it does very much feel like returning to visit an old friend. I guess the first thing I need to say about this book is that I really enjoyed it. It is the third book in McNiven’s Decker and Callie series, and is a step away from the previous books, with less archaeology and a lot more modern-day dangers. Bermuda Conspiracy is an action-adventure story set in the modern-day world.
